Easy ride to Sierra Blanca

Here in Texas you can ride your bicycle on the interstate highways.   I10 has been my route for today, from Van Horn to Sierra Blanca. I've never traveled the interstates at 10mph before.  I could have stocked a whole toolbox with flotsam off the shoulder... screwdrivers, knives, pliers etc.
Not much to this little town, with a population of less than 600.  I'm staying at a local motel as I have been since the nighttime temps have been dropping into the teens.  I'll try local fare for dinner again tonight.  The motel owner says they have BIG tacos.
They're promising east winds tomorrow (that's a tail wind!)  Winter storm warning for Tuesday... Oh my!

  1. Hope the BIG tacos were rejuvenating and the tail wind does the work for you today. Sounds like you better look into some studded snows for Tuesday. Here in Vermont it was in the high 30's and raining yesterday. We lost much of our snow, but it is being renewed today with a beautiful snowfall.

  2. Well, one nice thing about the weather down here is I shouldn't have that hard of a time reacclimating to Vermont. The combo of a tailwind, dropping elevation and smooth road surfaces had me in El Paso (80+ miles) around 1:30 pm. With these conditions I could easily have done over 100 miles, even as a gimp.

Last night, the tacos weren't that big. I had to stop at the covenience store on my way back to the room to get two ice cream sandwiches.
